Localization may be necessary for different categories of data depending on the jurisdiction. The most typical categories of data include profile/registration data, biometric data, healthcare data, financial transaction data, and payment information. LocalDot can store various types of data, including textual payloads such as JSON or XML data, as well as images and GIF files, PDF files etc.

LocalDot uses encryption and pseudonymization of all customer data. The platform uses the SHA-256 algorithm for hashing the data values and the AES-256 algorithm for encrypting data payloads. Some components of the platform support tokenization that completely swaps regulated data values with random and unique strings that cannot be reversed under any circumstances. We are flexible to use additional secrecy techniques and measures at the request of the major clients.

Depending on the jurisdiction, the localization levels required by data laws may vary. Most typically, the laws may require either (a) the full data lifecycle to take place within the domestic borders or (b) a replica copy of the data (“local copy”) to be retained and stored locally. Besides that, usually the data controller may carry out cross-border data transfers after data collection, but always subject to certain requirements.
